3rd Annual “Scout Sunday” Divine Liturgy in Solidarity with the Ukrainian Community at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church.

On Sunday, March 10, at 10:45 AM, our Scouting community is invited to attend the third annual “Scout Sunday” Divine Liturgy in solidarity with the Ukrainian community at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Units may attend as groups, and individual Scouts are also invited to attend without their units.  Attendance satisfies Roman Catholics’ Sunday Mass obligations, and those eligible to participate in Communion in Roman Catholic churches may also receive in the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Scouts will gather at the church at 10:15 AM at Liberty Ave. and Bloy Street in Hillside and will process into the church together, serve as lectors, and learn about the Ukrainian Catholic Church, and pray with our local Ukrainian community for immediate peace and healing in their homeland.

The Divine Liturgy will be followed by a luncheon program with Orest Hrycak, local Scouter and Immaculate Conception parishioner, who recently served a six-month deployment in Eastern Europe serving Ukrainian refugees .  Mr. Hrycak’s presentation, “Russo Ukrainian War 2014- present; Focusing on the two year anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion starting 24 Feb 2022 to 24 Feb 2024; with photos, map and a video,” will be a meaningful and educational experience for all.

Units attending as a group are asked to contact Mr. James Agar at [email protected] by March 1 with approximate headcounts for the Divine Liturgy and for the luncheon.  Parents of individual Scouts attending are asked to contact Mr. Agar as well.  Units and individual scouts are invited to bring their unit flags and flag stands for display at the front of the church for Divine Liturgy.

Questions?  Please contact Mr. Agar, again at [email protected].

Scouting For Food

One in nine New Jersey households, or nearly 750,000 people, are food insecure. 300,000 are children. Scouting for Food is one of the nation’s largest food drives that Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Venturing Crews and Exploring Posts participate in to support their local food pantries and hunger-relief agencies. The Patriots’ Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America is partnering with six regional food hubs (in Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties) to offer an opportunity for your troop to fight hunger while learning about the issue of food insecurity in our neighborhoods.

Check out the Council Community Service website for more information on the partnerships and a Scouting For Food Hang Tag Template for your drive.
