Programs Teach Scouts Leadership Skills

Last weekend, NYLT participants had a blast during the first part of the two-part November weekend course. This weekend, they will finish up their second weekend. NYLT is a great opportunity to train Scouts with critical leadership skills to bring back quality knowledge to their home unit.

Your unit can deliver it’s own leadership training prior to sending your Scouts to NYLT as a solid foundation.

In Scouts BSA, Introduction to Leadership Skills is a great opportunity for your unit and can be delivered on an annual basis within your unit.

The purpose of the ILST course is to teach Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. It is intended to help Scouts in leadership positions within their troop understand their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities.

ILST is the first course in the series of leadership training offered to Scouts and is a replacement for Troop Leadership Training. Completion of ILST is a prerequisite for Scouts to participate in the more advanced leadership courses.

You can collect toys and donate to an organization of your choice, or you can drop off toys at the following council collection locations where they will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program:
